How this website works:
When you hear or see an expression or a sentence you don’t understand (even though it contains words that you know), then maybe it’s time for you to use our website.
Use one or more of those words as Key Words and do a search as explained below. The search will generate one or more results which contain your key words.
Each result includes two parts:
- The first part includes one or more expressions or sentences. It may also include the equivalent meaning.
- The second part includes examples using the expression and/or the equivalent in typical sentences.
Remember, these are all the entries that contain your key words, but not all of them are what you want. Look through them until you find one that is the same as what you’re looking for, or close to it.
If you get too many results, narrow down the search as explained below. Also, if you don’t find what you’re looking for, let us know.
Help with Key Words:
Follow these simple rules for better search results:
- Enter one or two of the key words from the expression in the space below and begin your search.
- If you get too many results, use more key words to narrow down the search.
- Do not use words such as “the”, “to”, “with”, “for”, “they”, etc., as they will generate too many results.
- If you use a verb as a key word, and you don’t find what you’re looking for, use other forms or tenses of the same verb. (See the last example below.)
